Designing a Local, Speculative LLM
I was approached by HEAD Geneva to put together an online tutorial on the politics of hosting your own AI models, and how to get started hosting your models on your home computer. I like to keep these things a balance of the political and sociotechnical parts of these discussions, with some real instruction on how to use them in critical arts practice.
AI Cultural Sabotage #5
This was a great and wide-reaching conversation with Alessandro, the editor of the long-running magazine NEURAL. We covered some of my older work, as well as newer projects, and my overall approach to critical technical practice. Alessandro asked some great questions, I enjoyed getting into the weeds with him on these things.
Tipping Point Artist Interview: A Harbinger, a Horizon, and a Hope
This was a short interview hosted by BRAID about the artwork they commissioned from me: 'A Harbinger, A Horizon, and A Hope'. The commission presented seven UK-based artists aimed at exploring and enriching the responsible AI ecosystem through artistic expression, and premiered for the 2025 Edinburgh Summer Festivals.
What Is Research Now? Paul Mellon Center for British Art
The Paul Mellon Center for British Art invited me to give a talk about my art and research, and asked me to invite a respondent to be in discussion with - so I reached out to the fantastic Pedro Oliveira, who thankfully accepted, and we had a great discussion about critical practice, the politics of AI, and the limits of critique.
Sporoble Gallery: Chantier IA 2
This was an online talk for Sporobole, a gallery in Quebec. It was part of an AI series they were running, so we talked about my thoughts on this and my use of these tools in my practice. There were some really great questions from the audience captured at the end, I had a good-spirited debate with some computer scientists.
CTM 2020: Critical Art and the Ethics of AI
This talk from 2020 (just weeks before COVD lockdowns) was one of my earlier public talks about critical AI in arts practice. The landscape of AI has changed a lot, but a lot of what we talk about here is still as relevant today as it was then. I was joined in this with artists Marco Donnarumma and Helena Nikonole, who were also in the CTM Festival that year.
